Custom domain isn't verifying

3 min readUpdated 18 Oct 2026

What you're seeing

  • The domain stays on Waiting for DNS.
  • Verify says "Not verified yet".
  • The domain is verified but the page shows a certificate warning.

Check these in order

  1. Have you waited long enough?

DNS changes can take up to an hour to reach everywhere, sometimes longer at some hosts. Wait, then choose Verify again. If that fixed it, you're done.

  2. Is the TXT record's name right?

It must be _pagetruth-verify. followed by your full subdomain, for example _pagetruth-verify.help.acme.com. Many DNS hosts add your domain automatically; then enter only _pagetruth-verify.help. If that fixed it, you're done.

  3. Is the TXT value exact?

Copy the token from the dashboard with the copy button rather than retyping it. No quotes or spaces. If that fixed it, you're done.

  4. Is the CNAME pointing at cname.vercel-dns.com?

The subdomain needs a CNAME record with the value cname.vercel-dns.com, and no other record (an A record, say) at the same name. If that fixed it, you're done.

  5. Is a proxy in front of it?

If your DNS host proxies traffic (Cloudflare's orange cloud, for example), set the record to DNS only while it verifies and the certificate is issued. If that fixed it, you're done.

  6. Is it a subdomain?

A bare domain like acme.com can't be used. Use help.acme.com or similar. If that fixed it, you're done.

Still happening?

Write to hello@pagetruth.com with the domain and a screenshot of both DNS records at your host.
